Runners have 35 hours to run, jog or walk from Milngavie following the West Highland Way to Fort William Leisure Centre.

If runners are unfamiliar with the route they must carry their Harvey map at all stages.

Any deviation from the route may lead to disqualification.

They must pass through the checkpoints within the stated time limits.

Balmaha (19miles) – 5hrs

Beinglas Farm (42miles) – 12hrs

Auchtertyre (51miles) – 15hrs

Bridge of Orchy (60miles) – 18hrs

Glencoe Ski Lodge (71miles) – 23hrs

Kinlochleven (81miles) – 28hrs
Fort William (95miles) – 35hrs

They must carry any items that the Race Safety Officer states may be needed for their safety.

Any runner leaving Glencoe Ski Lodge after 9pm Saturday or Kinlochleven after 10pm Saturday must be 'paired up' with another runner or a member of their Back Up crew.

This is a SAL permitted race under hill race rules, thus no walking sticks/poles or other aids are permitted.

No support runner is allowed to accompany their runner on any section of the course where the runner has left the previous checkpoint within 4 hours of the overall race leader.

Runners who leave a checkpoint more than 4 hours after the overall race leader are welcome to be accompanied by a support runner/runners, from Auchtertyre onwards.  The check point marshals will advise on whether a runner is able to have a support runner.

The support runner is not to be used as a mule, i.e. the runner must still carry their own equipment, water and food.

Any runner who in the opinion of the Race Director, Race Safety Officer or Race Medical Officer is regarded as unfit to continue will be withdrawn from the race. THEIR DECISION IS FINAL.

All runners must have
motorised back up for the full duration of the event.  Up until Auchtertyre you need at least one crew member, and from Auchtertyre onwards you need a crew of at least two people, one of whom must be capable of accompanying you during the last two stages if required.

Runners must sign in and out with the marshal at each Checkpoint.

Each runner must sign in him/herself, but may delegate the signing out to his/her crew.

The Backup Crew must meet their runner at each Checkpoint, except for the checkpoint

at Beinglas Farm where no crew are allowed.

It is the Back Up Crew 's responsibility to ensure your safety between Checkpoints.

Your Back Up crew must be prepared to look for you if you do not check in at a Checkpoint. They should be equipped with, map, compass, torch, food and clothing for their runner. In bad weather all runners may have to 'Pair Up' at any stage at the discretion of the Race Director or Race Safety Officer.  BE PREPARED!

Rules may be added if and when circumstances arise.  These rules are for the safety of everyone taking part, and must be followed at all times.
