Boo, Hoo!!! No Avatars!!!

Avatars are now on :)

If you notice anything else that is missing them give me a shout, there is no real reason for anything to be off.

Yep, looks good. Well done. :)

Particularly like the return of the old race tales. I know these have probably gone out of fashion now with the proliferation of blogs, but I remember studying all of the older ones (pre 2004)(? now lost) before my first race. They really gave a flavour of what the race was all about, the spirit of the competitors and the joy of success (sometimes). They were really quite inspiring.

Thanks to all involved. :D

It took me c 5 years to understand the previous set-up. And now I've got to start all over again

I wonder how I resurrect my avatar.......... "I may be some time"

Looks good. Prefer this to the old set up.

Mr Admin, is it Gravatar friendly?

Don't worry. Sorted it now.

Like Neil, & I'm sure many others, I too found the earlier race tales inspiring; I remember Dario's own Race Tale among them, his misplaced modesty removed it at one point when later ones were added! Hopefully they are still around -- I do remember printing them out once, I might even find them one day.

Any chance the number of posts per page be increased? The old forum allowed 50 posts per page, which was possibly too many. Just 10 posts seems too few though. Well done on the update though!

Hmmm, not sure I like it. :?: It might just be that there are not enough posts visible on a page as Tim pointed out. As a consequence the forum seems pretty empty, and not the bustling place it used to be.

My avatar picture is >6kB so I will have to go through a process of reducing its size before uploading. Pain the bum so I may remain avatar free.

But, the general look and feel is much cleaner and less 'ZX spectrum' in feel, so happy with that. :)

I've continued this discussion over in the Race & Site announcements section under the heading "Forum Layout".

Brian,

Posting level is pretty much the same as for the old forum though the muber of users will take time to build. A couple of regulars are in a quiet phase, DQ for example.
We can look at the avatar size as this is adjustable.
The isue is more, as you say, the "historical postings" but there ain't a lot that we can do about that other than put the link in as we have.

Well done to those involved in improving the forum. Much better having registered users, should reduce spam and abusive posts.

I'm finding it really hard to navigate this format though. i'm pretty forum savvy but find i get 'lost' in here. wouldn't it be much simpler to get rid of the 'race and site announcements' link from the board index and the 'general running' link and just put all the posts under 'west highland way race'? this would mean all posts are available to see in one click.

Richie
